Texas meta: who was chosen most often at PGL Arlington Major 2022
Danil ChepilLet's touch on and look at the heroes most often used by professional players at the past PGL Arlington Major 2022. This tournament did not please us much with the diversity in the choice of characters, the main backbone of imbalanced heroes was always present and rarely when we saw the forgotten "guests" of the professional Dota 2 scene.
Heroes which are highlighted by our editors
Tiny
Picks & Bans | 96 & 71 (93.82%) |
win rate | 51.04% Radiant 41.30% Dire 60% |
Tiny has become the most picked character and deservedly so. The hero is really strong, he can play any of the five roles, but he was most often used as a position 4 support and midlaner. The hero is valued for relevance in all stages of the game, has good burst damage, small ability cooldowns, a large amount of health and armor. In addition, Tiny has a powerful ability, with the help of Toss, he can both save an ally and break the position of the opponent's team.
Pack
Picks & Bans | 79 & 89 (94.38%) |
win rate | 59.49% Radiant 48.78% Dire 71.05% |
Puck is one of the annoying heroes in the current meta. His abilities are very strong, he has good damage, control, silence and initiation and retreat abilities, due to his Phase Shift + Illusory Orb he can get out of almost any mess. Has very short cooldowns and is also one of the best heroes to buy Witch Blade, this artifact looks unbalanced in the current meta.
Dazzle
Picks & Bans | 65 & 60 (70.22%) |
win rate | 50.77% Radiant 41.03% Dire 65.38% |
It's no secret that Dazzle is one of the frequently chosen heroes, because the developers did everything to get him started picking. The hero does not lose relevance in all stages of the game, he has a good lane, has a good save and a very powerful Aghanim Shard. It's not that he needs artifacts to make a good impact, 5k gold is enough for him to unlock his potential.
Winer Wyvern
Picks & Bans | 62 & 70 (74.16%) |
win rate | 48.39% Radiant 37.14% Dire 62.96% |
It is very strange that Wyvern's win rate is not so good, perhaps she was often taken by teams with a worse level of play. But her statistics of picks and bans are quite justified. At the moment, the hero of the fifth position has practically no minuses, because her abilities are very strong, which is worth only the ultimate. It is very rare to single out a game where the Wyvern pick is not justified. This hero will be relevant for a very long time until the key ability is nerfed.
Razor
Picks & Bans | 96 & 71 (93.82%) |
win rate | 51.04% Radiant 41.30% Dire 60% |
Razor was most of the time from the hard lane, where he did well against melee heroes. This hero is valued for his simplicity and the minimum number of required artifacts. After all, if you buy Black King Bar and Refresher Orb, it will inflict a huge amount of damage and impact. His only negative is that the hero has a weak farming potential as well as the ability to comeback.
Pudge
Picks & Bans | 12 & 8 (11.24%) |
win rate | 83.33% Radiant 80.00% Dire 85.71% |
Who would have thought that the jokes about carry Pudge would go so far that he would be taken by teams at the Major. Moreover, he successfully coped with his task and became a real problem for enemies. The hero is very strong due to his third skill, which recently has an active ability, which was immediately recognized as imbalanced.
Marci
Picks & Bans | 57 & 47 (58.43%) |
win rate | 50.88% Radiant 37.14% Dire 62.96% |
A very strong support primarily because of his skills with small cooldowns. It is also valued for its relevance in all stages of the game and for the ability to disrupt the position in the camp of enemies.
Earthshaker
Picks & Bans | 31 & 6 (20.79%) |
win rate | 48.39% Radiant 46.67% Dire 50% |
I would like to single him out, since before the Major we practically did not see him in games, both on the pro stage and in public. But Ceb showed his power and that he is really troublesome with his Aghanim Shard.
Chen
Picks & Bans | 47 & 45 (51.69%) |
win rate | 68.09% Radiant 42.86% Dire 88.46% |
Chen has the highest win percentage in most games. It is noteworthy that his power is revealed precisely for the side of Darkness, most likely due to the location of neutral spots and landscape.
Storm Spirit
Picks & Bans | 21 & 20 (23.03%) |
win rate | 71.43% Radiant 63.64% Dire 80% |
Storm Spirit showed that his win rate of 43.84% in public does not show his weakness in any way. In the hands of the pros, he can terrify the map, and his Aghanim Scepeter is still very strong.
Viper
Picks & Bans | 31 & 103 (75.28%) |
win rate | 61.29% Radiant 50% Dire 70.59% |
Viper, along with Timbersaw, has become the most banned hero. In order to understand why this is so, it is worth at least one game to stand against him on the lane. He is most often sent to the offlane, but is also used as a position 5 support.
Bristleback
Picks & Bans | 23 & 66 (50%) |
win rate | 60.87% Radiant 45.45% Dire 75% |
Hedgehog is a very unpleasant hero, the first peak of strength begins after buying Aghanim Scepter, and the second after getting level 25. Deals a lot of physical damage and is one of the most durable heroes in the game. Teams most often tried to take Dazzle or IO under him, and sometimes Dawnbraker. Despite not having the highest win rate, he is one of the first heroes to be nerfed.
Dawnbraker
Picks & Bans | 36 & 74 (61.80%) |
win rate | 50% Radiant 38.10% Dire 66.67% |
Valor is one of the top offlaners, but the hero was also used in the fifth position. A very strong ultimate, unpleasant skills and the strongest Aghanim Shard made him one of the pro players' favorites.
Heroes worth highlighting
- Timbersaw - Shares first place with Viper in terms of bans, they have 103 bans.
- Doom - the hero has become the worst in pick/win ratios. He was chosen 27 times, but he was able to win only 8 of them.
- Necrophos - 7 wins 0 losses. It is strange why the hero is so rarely taken, because he is very strong. Rather, this is due to other strong heroes that Necro is not competitive with.
- Snapfire - 46 games played. Nobody forgets about the strength of Mortimer with his rider, this nuker is more relevant than ever.
- Enigma - 14 wins 6 losses. A very good win rate for Enigma, in the current meta this hero is really fun to play.
- Juggernaut - 17 wins 17 losses. And although the win rate is not the most revealing, Yurnero is one of the best carries in the current meta, primarily because of his Aghanim Shard.
- Death Prophet - 19 wins 19 losses. In public, Krobelius is rarely mentioned, but on the pro stage she is very strong.
