Rocket League's RLCS Soars to New Heights with 10 Exciting Teams Joining the Esports Shop Lineup
Bogdan LashchenkoRocket League's official esports tournament circuit, RLCS, is gearing up for the upcoming competitive season by adding ten new organizations to the in-game 'Esports Shop.' This expansion includes notable teams like Gentle Mates, M80, OG, KRÜ Esports, and Ninjas In Pyjamas, alongside Elevate, Rule One, Rebellion, Pioneers, and Limitless.
Each of these organizations, alongside the existing 21 teams, will receive a set of new decals and banners for in-game vehicles such as Octane, Fennec, and Dominus. The decals also feature the sponsors of some teams, with examples including Credit Agricole for Team Vitality, Lenovo Legion for Complexity, and Mobil 1 for Gen.G.
The Esports Shop, introduced in 2019, offers a revenue-sharing model for selected RLCS teams. When fans purchase a team's decal, the revenue is split 70/30 between Psyonix and the respective organization. While the criteria for selecting esports organizations for decals remain undisclosed, the recent addition of ten teams stirred discussions online, raising questions about the selection process.
As the RLCS 2024 season kicks off, qualifiers are taking place across various competitive regions, including Europe, North America, Oceania, South America, MENA, Asia-Pacific, and Sub-Saharan Africa. The season's first Major event is scheduled for March, featuring 16 competing teams, although the exact location is yet to be revealed.
