The Top Indian eSports Players Who are Driving Gaming Forward in the Country
Yuriy SheremetGrowth of the gaming industry continues in India, with players turning to playing the biggest console games out there, as well as people watching the professionals play them.
The world of eSports has seen a real boom over the past decade in particular, that has involved people getting on board from all countries, including in India.
Games such as FIFA, Dota2, CS:GO and Fortnite have gone on to be huge on the eSports scene, with some big competitions and tournaments being played all over the world. Many prize pools for the games are in the thousands, though players can win over a million dollars when they are at the very top of a sport.
We have also seen a rise in eSports betting, opening up gaming to a whole new sector. With Indian gambling guides at luckydice.in, Indians have the chance to bet on eSports, watch live streams and cheer on their favourite players.
A handful of big names have emerged from India recently and had great success on the eSports circuit, giving people of the country their own local heroes to support. Here is a look at the story so far for two of them.
Ankit Panth
Otherwise known as V3nom, Ankit Panth is one of the most popular Indian CS:GO players. He dreamt of being a professional gamer as a child, and is now not only a pro but also a role model for the youngsters of India looking to follow in his footsteps.
With little help at the start, Panth originally made a name for himself as a DJ and fitness guru, while gaming on the side at the same time. After playing and winning a lot on Counter-Strike 1.6, he realised he was good enough to play pro gaming.
Eventually after starting Team Brutality, he won his first tournament and that was the first of many. A switch to the more recent and popular Counter Strike: Global Offensive moved him further up the ladder and brought even more success.
As one of the few players who went from being a huge home gamer to a successful pro from India, Panth will continue to be a role model and show Indian kids that it can be done.
Saransh Jain
If you are an Indian looking for a story to follow, few are as good as the one that Saransh Jain has behind him. He’s only been in the industry as a professional for a very short period of time, but has already helped to put India on the map.
Jain went to a local FIFAe gaming tournament in Pune when he first started playing eSports, and eventually won it. He was dominant, and unbeaten for a long time, which is what set him off on his eSports journey.
Winning that local tournament led to opportunities for him to play elsewhere, including trips to Germany and one to the Maldives where he won again.
The success Saransh Jain has had will certainly be inspiring for those who, just like him, head to their local eSports tournaments to play.
