Esports news EHOME
In brief:
EHOME is one of the oldest and most respected clubs in China. EHOME is called «the pilgrim» of the Dota scene for a reason. We offer you a brief story of the brand and the Dota branch.
The first appearance
Despite the club being founded at the dawn of esports in 2004, the first appearance on the international scene is dated in 2010-2011. In 2010, the roster of EHOME included the most talented and famous players of that time:
· 820
· Burning
· Dai
· KingJ
· 357
The legends of the Chinese Dota scene dominated inside the region and demonstrated incredible results beyond China. In 2010, they became the champions of ESWC 2010.
EHOME dominated the professional scene till 2011. In January 2011, the big reshuffle started in China, during which Burning and KingJ left EHOME. After their transfer, the so-called era of EHOME started.
The positions of the departed legends were held by LongDD and PLT. However, they did not last too long on the roster, especially, The International 2011 was coming – the first World Championship.
The fall at TI1 and the period of obliviousness
EHOME was considered to be the main contender to prevail at the first The International. The club completed the roster, which included:
· 820
· QQQ
· X!!
· LaNm
· SJQ
The tournament began well: EHOME prevailed in its group with a score of 3-0 and guaranteed itself a spot in the upper bracket of the main event. However, the Chinese top team stepped down to the lower bracket in the second round
Despite the fragile situation, EHOME managed to proceed to the final of The International, having passed the mix of madness in the lower bracket. However, EHOME lacked their power in the final.
After the loss in the final of The International 2011, the roster was drastically changed. Initially, 820 left the team, then he was followed by SJQ and X!!.
The roster faced radical changes in 2012. Then, the following players were playing for EHOME:
· MMY
· QQQ
· PCT
· LaNm
· KingJ
However, the first tournament made a critical hit to EHOME. The Chinese beast held the 13th-24th place at The Defense Season 1, which led to the changes that lasted till TI2. EHOME was represented by the new and old roster at TI 2012:
· LaNm
· KingJ
· PCT
· X!!
· QQQ
The team proved itself pretty well, having held the 5th-6th place. It was well but not for EHOME. After the performance at TI 2012, EHOME collapsed. The team needed 3 years to make its comeback.
The return of EHOME and searches for an optimal roster
The triumphal return of the fallen kings of the Chinese and world Dota happened in 2015. The first tournament, at which the updated EHOME appeared, was Dota 2 Asia Championship 2015. That roster included:
· Zyf
· Mushi
· Ohaiyo
· Inflame
· DDC
The return was not that bright and the team held the 9th-12th place at the tournament. After such a result, Mushi and Ohaiyo left the team and their slots were taken by LaNm and rOtK.
EHOME mixed and changed the roster almost a year. But it did not stop them from being frequent guests at prestigious tournaments. For example, EHOME held the 2nd place at MarsTV Dota 2 League 2015 Spring – Chinese League, achieved victory in the qualifiers to TI 2015 and placed 5th-6th at the main tournament of the year.
After The International 2015, the roster looked in the following way:
· Cty
· old chicken
· eLeVeN
· Kaka
· LaNm
With this roster, EHOME held the 3rd place at Nanyang Dota 2 Championship and the 4th place at The Frankfurt Major 2015. By the end of the year, EHOME won the Chinese tournament Dota 2 Radiant & Dire Cup 2015.
2016 started with a positive note but continued not that good. At the beginning of 2016, EHOME became the champions of Shanghai Dota 2 Open и MarsTV Dota 2 League 2015 Winter. However, the team placed 9th-12th at The Shanghai Major 2016, which obviously led to roster changes. Cty and Kaka left the team and their spots were held by iceiceice and Fenrir. Later, eLeVeN took a break who returned a month later, in June.
Unfortunately, there were no massive changes. EHOME continued holding «mediocre» at championships and miraculously made it to The International 2016, having jumped into the leaving train due to the victory at the Wild Card tournament. EHOME placed 5th-6th at TI, which seemed to be not that confident result again.
Another roster changes began after The International. Iceiceice left the team whose spot was taken by Sylar, Fenrir last left the squad and his position was held by Garder.
EHOME was playing till the end of the year with this roster but they were not able to achieve significant results.
The whole upcoming 2017 was a total failure for EHOME. The team made experiments on the roster in that season, signing young players and benching them after the first failures. EHOME regularly mixed esportsmen, trying to perform on the highest level. However, nothing came of it.
The best results in 2017 were the victories at Dota2 Professional League 2017 S1: Secondary, VPGame Challenge League Season 3, and WESG 2016 China Finals. However, the victories at such small tournaments seemed to be nothing compared to the fact of missing the main tournament – The International 2017.
But the situation did not change radically in 2018. The reshuffle madness was still there: old chicken left the team at the beginning of the year and returned a few months later, Hym became inactive, and Guvara joined the main roster. The total chaos with rosters and reshuffles did not stop. At least, it happened till September 2018.
EHOME revealed the new roster for the upcoming DPC season in September. It included:
· eGo
· ASD
· Faith_bian
· 天命
· y`
This update was useful. EHOME achieved victory at World Electronic Sports Games 2018 China Finals, Asia Pro League Season 1, STARLUCK DOTA2 Challenge, and also held the 2nd place at a few small tournaments.
2019-2020
EHOME prevailed at The Bucharest Minor at the beginning of 2019, after which placed 5th-6th at The Chongqing Major. Later, they qualified to DreamLeague Season 11, however, they performed very badly at the tournament, having held the 13th-16th place. By the way, NeverEnd and XinQ played instead of eGo and Faith_bian at DreamLeague Season 11, which definitely made its impact on the result.
Having started a year pretty well, EHOME continued it in a familiar manner – with reshuffles and unstable results.
But in 2019, the results were way better than in a previous couple of years. By the end of the year, EHOME held the 2nd place at OGA Dota PIT Minor 2019, the 3rd place at Midas Mode 2 – Asia and Battle of Dawn, and also placed 1st at Hanan Master Cup.
They held the 9th-12th place at MDL Chengdu Major at the end of the year. With the arrival of the pandemic in 2020, EHOME had to compete on a local level like the rest of the teams. But the team demonstrated pretty solid results, considering that China was also considered to be the most competitive region in the world.
In 2020, EHOME managed to place 2nd at OGA Dota PIT Season 1: China, achieve victory at DPL-CDA Professional League Season 1 and DPL-CDA Professional League Season 2, besides reshuffles of a dozen players. Also, the team held the 2nd place at China Dota2 Pro Cup Season 1 and CDA-FDC Professional Championship Season 2.
The organization and rewards
Wang Changqi is a team manager and a coaching slot is taken by Yao. EHOME cooperates with famous Chinese brands, including the popular streaming service Huya.
Since the foundation of EHOME, the organization has launched at least 5 squads without the main roster. These were EHOME.Immortal, EHOME.Keen, EHOME.Luminous, EHOME.X, and EHOME Malaysia.
Since the creation of the main Dota roster, he has earned more than 3,900,000 dollars of prize money for the organization.
